About the Role

We’re looking for a skilled, self-starting, full stack PHP developer to grow our existing team. At Together, you’ll be working on a range of different digital projects for our roster of clients and you’ll be a key member of the team. Collaborating closely with our account management, project management and design teams, you will be working on the full software development lifecycle, taking full product ownership from day one.


The main responsibilities for this role are:

  • Create digital solutions that answer or surpass our client expectations
  • Ensure your work is of a high quality, efficient, and works across a range of devices
  • Identify and fix bugs, work on ad-hoc amends and feature requests for existing projects
  • Collaborate directly with the wider Together team
  • Contribute directly to our technical direction.

Key recruitment criteria

The successful candidate is likely to have:

  • 4+ years’ experience working in a PHP developer role
  • Experience working for multiple consumer brands in an agency environment
  • A good degree
  • Capable across the stack (HTML, CSS and Javascript), with strong ability to match design with front-end
  • Strong OO PHP skills, with experience of Wordpress and Symfony, plus knowledge of related CMS technology such as Craft CMS and Twig
  • Composer, Git

Beneficial criteria

  • Comfortable across a variety of software/tools, such as webpack and/or other CSS Pre-processors (SASS/LESS), jQuery, gulp, grunt, npm, etc.
  • Experience with development, deployment, and hosting software/platforms - AWS (EC2/ECS), Linux, Apache, Nginx, Docker, MySQL and Redis.
  • Some experience with Google Analytics and SEO.

  • Confident and self-assured across all relationships both external and internal
  • Persuasive when meeting with and presenting to clients
  • Positive and enthusiastic with a desire to succeed
  • Good communicator, with effective listening skills
  • Able to build positive relationships with clients, suppliers and within the agency itself. Must be a team player
  • Highly organised – especially under pressure
  • Able to prioritise when dealing with several projects at once.

Key skills/qualifications

  • A top degree (i.e. high grade and/or top Uni) in any subject, or in a computing related discipline
  • Good writing and grammar skills
  • Good numeracy skills
  • UK Driving License (desirable)
  • Ability to travel to client locations anywhere in the UK (desirable)
  • Any professional certifications would be an advantage.

Some travel required around the UK.


Full time contract.

Mon – Friday, 9am – 5.30pm, but hours are those required to complete the job.

25 days annual leave (3 days reserved between Christmas and New Year’s Day) and UK Bank Holidays. Pro rata.
